Our Mission

We believe in the power of community-led intervention.

We believe that by offering tools for healing in communities with little to no other psychosocial support, we begin to narrow the global wellbeing gap.

We believe that if we empower community leaders, they will share the practices with others, creating a ripple effect of healing.

The OMPowerment Project is a US registered 501c3 nonprofit and UK registered charity that co-creates sustainable wellbeing culture in the pursuit of global well-being equity.

To do so, we train community leaders in a toolkit of practices for managing stress and anxiety and restoring confidence and self-esteem.

We offer evidence-based practices that have been shown to improve overall wellbeing. By improving focus, clarity and communication, reducing stress and anxiety.

Purpose

Our purpose is to reduce the global well-being gap by empowering marginalised communities, giving them access to a toolkit of practices for community centred healing and self-regulation.

Our mission is to create an ever-expanding network, empowering leaders around the world to lead sustainable practices for healing within their own communities

 What we do

The OMPowerment Project co-creates sustainable wellbeing culture in the pursuit of global well-being equity.

Our projects with at-risk and marginalised communities train community leaders in a toolkit of practices for managing stress and anxiety and restoring confidence and self-esteem. This work equips individuals with the skills to create judgement free spaces in their communities in which to offer these tools to others, creating a ripple effect of healing throughout the community.

Our training for Wellness Industry Professionals, Teachers, Community Organisers, Activist Groups, Nonprofits, and Organisations offer practical, evidence-based tools to cultivate sustainable wellbeing culture by improving focus, clarity, and communication, and by reducing stress and anxiety.

Our Resources, including a YouTube channel and Podcast offer accessible resources for self practice and elevate the voices of our community, including the leaders we serve, the partners we collaborate with, and the experts who inspire us.

  2. Establishing healing spaces in communities and sharing the toolkit of practices with

    others

  3. Creating a supportive healing spaces the practitioners own communities to continue

OMPowerment aligns with our vision of empowering the refugees to support themselves.
We are grateful for the training offered by OMPowerment because it lifted the residents up, improved their understanding of yoga, and in the end, brought us a couple more yoga teachers for the space!

Training

The OMPowerment Project works with community organisers and outreach service providers to offer Leadership and Wellbeing Trainings that focus on establishing self and community care by developing a personal toolkit of resources for managing stress and anxiety. Free of labels and judgment, these are pieces of training aim to create spaces in which people can relieve anxiety and restore confidence and self-esteem.

For staff and community activists, these trainings include:

  1. Understanding, noticing, and healing from burnout and compassion fatigue

  2. Reflective practice and community discussion space to share experience and bravely

express any difficulties in maintaining the work

  3. Supporting personal and organisational wellbeing by maintaining a personal practice

of self care and learning to offer the practices to others.

It made me feel connected in a community of like-minded others. It helped bring some much needed structure to my rather empty days which has helped beyond simply learning the content of the course. I really enjoyed the content and the mix of teaching sections and practical sessions, and I particularly like that all the ‘theory’ had clear practical application suggestions.

Podcast

“Speak up Louder" title is inspired by Asifa Hassan , a former trainee, important member of our team and founder of She Matters. In a recent Instagram post she shared:
"What the ISIS did to my community to the Yazidi people was the biggest crime against humanity. We will never forget this day, we will speak up louder and share our stories with the world until we achieve safety and peaceful life to our community and we will never give up on Justice."
The power and determination in her words inspires every aspect of our Podcast and we couldn't help but elevate her words through the name. Through conversations with our leaders, partners, teachers and students we aim to raise collective consciousness around the transformative potential of mindbody practices for individuals, communities and our environment, and the importance of making these practices more inclusive and accessible for all.
